A long-time local favorite has announced exciting news with a small sign near the Walmart Neighborhood Market off Shug Jordan Parkway. According to the sign, a new Amsterdam Café location in Auburn is expected in the spring of 2022!
A Few Details
Currently, construction is underway for a new retail development known as Northside Crossing. It will be off Shug Jordan Parkway near the intersection of North Donahue Drive. Like the sign reads, locals and visitors alike can expect to see a new Amsterdam Café location in Auburn next spring.
About Amsterdam Café
Amsterdam Café first opened in Auburn in 1991 in a quaint restaurant space including an outdoor patio. It didn’t take long for it to become a town favorite. Upscale, yet casual, you can always expect a delicious dining experience.
The menu is based on local farm fresh, seasonal ingredients. Staples include lunch favorites like the Amsterdam Turkey Wrap or Crab Cake and Avocado Sandwich. Dinner options range from fresh seafood to steak. Plus, there are appetizers, cocktails and dessert alone that are worth a visit!

Amsterdam Café in the Park
Did you know there was a second Amsterdam Café in Auburn? Located in the Research and Innovation Center at the Auburn Research Park, it serves lunch Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. With outdoor and indoor seating, this location is more of a fast casual or grab-and-go option.
This location of the café can be found off South Donahue Drive inside the Auburn Research Park. Diners do not need a university parking permit or to work at the Park to stop by. There is plenty of nearby free parking available!
Additionally, the Dam Food Truck is on campus near Owen Hall this semester, and the Dam Taco Truck is near Haley Center for more Amsterdam dining options.
Location and Hours
The original Amsterdam Café at 410 South Gay St. is open seven days a week. Their Sunday Brunch is offered from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. with dinner following from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday hours are 11 a.m. until 9 p.m.
Amsterdam Café in the Park is located at 540 Devall Drive Suite 102.
