Our local economy is only as good as the fuel we put into it! One way to strengthen it is by browsing and buying during the upcoming Blue Friday and Small Business Saturday 2020 events. Blue Friday will arrive in Auburn for one day only, on November 27, and Small Business Saturday will take place the day after on November 28. Want to learn more before you make your plans? Read on to find out about what you can expect!
What is Blue Friday?
Auburn has our own distinct take on Black Friday: Blue Friday! This event is free for all to attend. There, you’ll find impressive deals and doorbusters. Plus, more shops will be open longer, so you can get all your holiday presents accounted for in no time.
What is Small Business Saturday?
Towns across the country like to celebrate Small Business Saturday—Auburn and Opelika included. Locals are encouraged to show some love for their local economies by shopping at small businesses on that special day. So, get out your lists, and start marking items off of them!
Why is it so important to support my local economy?
The more money we put into our local economy, the more it spreads around, enriching us all. That means an increase in jobs, better financial resources, and stronger town in general. Additionally, small businesses are one of the aspects that make each city unique. So, it makes sense that we would want them to thrive!
How can I support local businesses from home?
Some of us prefer to stay home right now—and that’s totally understandable. You can still support local businesses without getting up from the couch. Ordering gift cards—or even delivery from local restaurants and shops—is a simple way to impact the economy. You can also leave good reviews online or spread the word about your favorite shops and restaurants. Last but not least, you can share this article and inspire friends and families to shop locally!
We’re excited for Blue Friday and Small Business Saturday 2020. If you are too, here’s what you need to know before you attend these events!
Blue Friday is set to kick off at 8 a.m. and end on 8 p.m. on November 27 in Downtown Auburn. As for Small Business Saturday, visit all of our local area shops on November 28 to join in on all the savings!
A Few Quick Safety Reminders
The holidays are coming up! As we prepare to cross all the items off of our loved ones’ wish lists, we should also prepare to keep our community as safe as possible. Please, remember to follow all state laws, like wearing a mask and staying six feet or further from those not in your household. You should also listen to all employee direction and posted signage. For your convenience, consider carrying hand sanitizer with you. Additionally, try not to touch items unless you are sure that you will purchase them. Thank you so much for protecting all of our wonderful neighbors in Auburn and Opelika!
